Kimberly M. Burns, Esq.Kimberly M. Burns, Esquire is a former Vice-chair of the Maryland State Democratic Leadership Council. Kim served as Chairman of the Anne Arundel Democratic Party, working closely with Delegate Mike Busch. She was twice elected from Legislative District 33. She has also been a member of the Maryland Democratic Party's Executive Board, as co-chairman of the Rules Committee. Prior to joining Government Affairs-Maryland, Kim was employed by Philip Morris USA in New York City, where she worked with the Government Affairs and Marketing Departments. She currently serves on the Board of numerous civic and professional associations. In 2009, she was nominated by Governor Martin J. O'Malley, and unanimously confirmed by the Maryland State Senate, to the Board of Anne Arundel Community College for a six-year term. She was recognized by "Outstanding Young Women of America" for her political leadership, and nominated by then-ambassador Jim Rosapepe to lead a delegation of young political leaders to China and Hong Kong for the American Council of Young Political Leaders. Besides a Masters in Business Administration in Marketing and Information Systems from the College of William and Mary, Kim holds a law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. Mrs. Burns is also a December 2008 Graduate of the Buckley School, where she focused on developing messaging skills. She was nominated to the program by Dr. Robert Moffit at the Heritage Foundation. She has been admitted to the Maryland Bar since 1993. |
